The story of Scrybecast

Scrybecast is a SaaS for Podcast creators, Podcast Managers, and production Studios who do not want to spend hours and a lot of money creating marketing and social content (episode metadata) that enhances the discoverability of their podcasts.
Discover the story of a self-funded SaaS built by me (Mickael Bourgois 👋).

A few words about me

I am a passionate maker and product builder! I learned to no-code in 2019 and have not stopped since.

After late studies in engineering school (at 31 years old), I discovered the world of tech and startups by becoming a Salesperson for a B2B SaaS. I immediately loved this universe and quickly understood that the SaaS model was the best way to launch a business. But first, one had to know how to code…

Then I had the opportunity to work freelance as a side business on small missions (creating content for podcasts, automations…) and I attended a no-code bootcamp for skills enhancement. These experiences were the trigger for a life change for me.

After this full-time Sales job, I created a micro-business to launch full-time as a freelance no-coder. I continued to train, worked on missions, and developed my own projects! I knew what I wanted by now. A self-financing business as a solopreneur.

A few words about Scrybecast

At first, Scrybecast was not Scrybecast. But a content writing service for podcasts that I was offering on Twitter. A service to help podcast creators go faster, to focus on what they did best: interviews with their guests.

Bad idea because getting paid to write, while listening to podcasts that I loved and was already used to listening to, did not last long. I quickly realized that I preferred to listen to these podcasts peacefully in my car, rather than having to stay behind my computer taking notes and spending time thinking and correcting my texts. It requires a lot of work and time to write an episode summary, create a timeline (chapters with timing), propose titles… So I put this service on the back burner.

I thought that others could do it in my place and even better than me. That other types of services (editing, mixing, graphic design…) could also help my former clients. That's where the idea of creating a platform to connect Podcasters and freelancers in these fields would be a good idea. WeLovePodcasts was born.

For 1 month, I developed this platform (marketplace) alone, using no-code, and it made for an excellent project to validate the bootcamp I was attending.

After 2-3 months and some discussions with my first beta testers and clients, I knew it wouldn't work. Very few podcasters could afford the luxury of delegating all or part of their post-production. One of them even told me about tools that could automate audio recognition to turn it into text… Then generative AI arrived. It was obvious to me. If I had a tool to transcribe episodes, but also to create content that would serve for publication and marketing, automatically, quickly, and especially for much less than the services found on WeLovePodcasts, then the question of cost would no longer even arise. That's how Scrybecast was born.

In one month, I had a finished product to test with 2-3 people. Two months later, I had nearly 50 beta testers. And after some corrections and validations of ideas, I launched the public v1. Now, I work part-time on Scrybecast (I still live off freelancing) to offer podcast creators the simplest and most efficient French tool possible, to create their promotional content and podcast metadata in 1 click.

Feel free to test it. It's free for 14 days (7 days free upon signing up + an additional 7 days free when choosing the Solo plan).
